The Mountain King

The Mountain King
*************^^*******^^

In the hall of the mountain king
Tales drenched in wine
Swords sheathed unclean
In a mood misted corner
She wept for him deeply
With tears turbid in red washed mountain streams

Through pauses in her sullen gasped grief
She heard the murmurs of men about

"Our kings heart lost in valour gold"
"I watched as he held fate at bay beyond mortal bounds"
"Yes he stood defiant to the death "
"With his bladed rebuke for thieves to steal his mountain soul"
"Men and men came on like beasts in running herds"
"Thrice he cast the hand of hooded death from I"
"As I"
"And I"
"Never will the sun shine upon one born such as he"
"I heard the mount moan as like great-grey beasts from sea"
"As I"
"And I"
"Today this mountains veins were his and his, this mountains"
"Only did he fall whence those who came fell to ruin"
"Met a red soaked god they did"
"Burned bright to death like great stones falling to earth"
"Quiet, the lady hears us solemnly"

No word of deed or fortitude
Could bridge her void gaped heart
For hands that swept heathen to heavens
Left the pieces of her lost and scattered
His fire may have blazed across fear stricken faces
Yet now without him she lay on cold stones extinguished

In the hall of the mountain king
All spoke to his sacrifice
For people and mountain true
Yet in a mood misted corner
She wept deeply in knowing
In promise on that morning breath
"No blackened spirit approaching shall live past I to you... My love"
